Charley Smith

Founding Member Charley "Guitar" Smith -- Lead Guitar, Vocals

Biography

Born and raised a Texan in Greenville, TX,  saved at age 16, but lived outside of fellowship with God until age 36 when my wife of 32 years and  my kids influenced me to get back in church. Motorcycles have been part of my life since 7 years old, though I was away from riding for 20 years while raising the family. Started playing guitar at age 14, playing in rock bands during my high school years.  Being “digitally challenged” (short stubby fingers), I am probably the cheatingest  (is that a word?) guitar slinger around, but I love playing.

A founding member of the Wing and a Prayer Band and a member of King's Kruizers CMA # 751 since August 2004, currently serving as Road Captain.

Music

Musical influences are Eric Clapton, Johnny Winter, B. B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Grand Funk Railroad, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Lynyrd Skynyrd,  the Rolling Stones, Rory Gallagher, Wayland Jennings, Third Day, Casting Crowns, Kutless, Mercy Me. I love any blues-based rock and southern rock with lots of guitars, especially bottle-neck and finger picking style and particularly songs that tell a story.

Gear

My equipment used includes a Michael Kelly electric and  Takamine and Ovation acoustic electric guitars played through a 100 watt Carvin amp miked into the main Behringer PMH5000 powered mixer. Effects board includes  Behringer Blues Overdrive and Fab Chorus pedals, Fender in-line tuner and I use D'Addario strings on all instruments.

For God

I believe if you will listen and yield to Him, God will take you places you never thought you would go and you will do things you never thought you could do, He has  done exactly  that with me.
